Planting season has gotten underway at last.
We’ve been in the field for 3 days now. Thank goodness! With the Illinois flooding earlier this spring, the ground has been very wet. And that’s really an understatement.

This picture…that’s not a lake. It’s farm ground. Luckily not ours, but you get the point.
So you can see why it has taken so long for the fields to dry, especially since it’s also been raining pretty consistently ever since.
However, with the recent warm weather and the beautiful sunshine, planting has finally begun.
Now things get tricky. Thomas works very long hours, because they’re trying to get as many of the fields planted as they can. They’re planting corn and soybeans, and typically, they try to finish up by Memorial Day. That probably won’t happen this year, but maybe they’ll get close.
Usually this is a tough time of year for me because we really can’t make any plans. But this year, the season is especially difficult because we have a five month old baby. Yikes!
